Bravery Road Bore
Tablelands Regional Council
Bravery Road Bore
M & J Arthur PTY LTD were contracted to install a new council bore designed to supply 80 litres per
second of underground water for the Tablelands Regional Council water network.
The project involved drilling a new bore hole adjacent to the existing council bore and installing a submersible pump, harmonic drive, MSB and generator. The whole system is connected to the council SCADA network.
The bore hole was drilled by Serra Drilling. The bore hole has a 300mm diameter steel casing with stainless screens and was terminated at 113m which was the full extent of the fractured basalt aquifer.
A 24hr flow test was performed by SMEC. The
standing water at the time of testing was 38m with approx. 2m drawdown during the duration
of pumping.
The installed bore pump is a Subtek pump (Calpeda) and was supplied by Northern Water. The pump is situated 61m below the concrete slab at the
bore head. The bore riser pipe is 150mm FRP pipe in 5m lengths.
The Variable Speed Drive was supplied by Drive Solutions who sourced it from Danfoss. There
is an aluminium cover over the drive for protection.
The Main Switchboard and generator were provided by Babinda Electrics.

The functional control of the generator, VSD and pump is all provided by the SCADA system. The SCADA was supplied and commissioned by Dave Thomas of SCADA Engineering Pty Ltd.
